La pellicola è ispirata al cosiddetto delitto del Canaro, l'omicidio brutalissimo e a dir poco truculento del criminale e pugile dilettante Giancarlo Ricci, avvenuto a Roma nel 1988 per mano di Pietro De Negri (soprannominato er canaro per via del suo lavoro presso un centro di toelettatura per cani).
